EL BOOM DEL CANNABIS EN EL MUNDO

Cannabis, un tema que ha causado controversia en el mundo entero, sin embargo, con el tiempo y basadas en investigaciones científicas, se ha descubierto que esta planta tiene propiedades terapéuticas y medicinales. Debemos tener en cuenta cuáles son sus propiedades, y cuál es la diferencia entre el cannabis medicinal y el recreativo. Para ello, debemos conocer los diversos componentes de la planta. El cannabis contiene más de 100 cannabinoides, de los cuales se destacan dos; el THC (Tetrahidrocannabinol) y el CBD (Cannabidiol).

Pero ¿Qué es el THC y el CBD?

Ambos componentes, actúan sobre el sistema endocannabinoide del cuerpo humano, sin embargo intervienen de maneras distintas en receptores diferentes del cerebro y el cuerpo.

El THC, es el componente psicoactivo de la planta, es decir, es el que genera la alteración de la percepción y modifica el estado de ánimo, pues se vincula con dos receptores del cerebro humano, el CB-1, el cual genera placer, incrementa el apetito, en algunos casos se pierde la memoria y la concentración; el CB-2, es el que se encarga de controlar la sensación de dolor y entra a jugar un papel en la homeostasis en diferentes lugares del cuerpo.

Por otro lado, el CBD, es el componente terapéutico, con propiedades antiinflamatorias, normalmente se usa para tratar afecciones como; artritis, asma, ataques de epilepsia y reumatismo, además de no producir efectos diferentes, es utilizado para fines médicos.

De acuerdo con esto, esta planta ha causado controversia en el mundo entero, pues por sus efectos, según un artículo realizado por la Universidad Católica de Colombia, se han generado diferentes polémicas, ya que esta planta ha sido utilizada y manipulada por diferentes patrones, un ejemplo de estas son las organizaciones criminales, comunidades de zonas rurales y urbanas, las cuales cultivan, procesan y comercializan esta planta. Algunos lo hacen con fines de lucro ilícitos, otros como medicina ancestral, consumo recreativo y consumo terapéutico.

Sin embargo, es de gran importancia entender y reconocer los efectos mágicos y terapéuticos, los beneficios que no podemos dejar atrás, aunque, la adquisición de una semilla e incluso su producción, genera una problemática social, pues en la mayoría de los casos, se desconoce o se ignora su procedencia.

Es una lucha constante que ha revolucionado las opiniones del mundo, pues hay quienes apoyan su legalización, pero también quienes afirman que es la “mata que mata”, sin embargo en América Latina, varios países han aprobado la planta con fines medicinales.

De acuerdo con lo anterior, Uruguay fue el 1r país en el mundo en autorizar el consumo con fines recreativos, seguido por Canadá, que ocupa el 2do puesto. Por otro lado, en Colombia está permitido la posesión legal para el consumo personal, se aprobó 22 gramos por persona, para venta y distribución legal solo en uso medicinal y científico, sin embargo, también autorizan el cultivo legal para el consumo personal, con un límite de 20 plantas.

Cabe resaltar que el cultivo de cannabis, su venta y su distribución se está expandiendo, pues cada país tiene una legislación al respecto, con diferentes finalidades de consumo, ya sea para uso medicinal, científico o para uso recreativo.

Por otro lado, en otros países, hay muchas más restricciones y el consumo recreativo o terapéutico es ilegal, es el caso de, Cuba, El salvador, Guatemala, Haití, Bolivia, Paraguay, Nicaragua y República Dominicana.

Con esta situación podemos observar que las políticas favorables para la legalización de la planta, está despegando en América, pero, en Europa esta situación es un poco distinta. En países como Holanda, está autorizada la compra y el consumo del cannabis, el cual se puede consumir en famosos “coffee-shops”, sin embargo, por parte de los municipios de los Países Bajos buscan regular el suministro de este tipo de lugares que actualmente no han sido permitidos.

Por otro lado, en Alemania se han otorgado licencias para obtener cannabis con fines medicinales, pues se ha dado luz verde para regular el uso de esta planta en los pacientes graves, de modo que la normativa estará a favor especialmente con pacientes que padecen de enfermedades crónicas.

A partir de las investigaciones realizadas y los casos de éxito en cuanto a salud, esta planta será una planta prodigiosa, siendo indispensable en el mundo, pues esta planta ha revolucionado la industria farmacéutica, gracias a sus múltiples beneficios ha mejorado y ha cambiado las condiciones de vida de muchas personas que no encontraban la cura a sus enfermedades.

Datos botánicos de la planta: El cannabis, es una planta anual que pertenece a la familia Cannabaceae, el ciclo natural comienza en la primavera con la germinación de las semillas, su composición química es un poco compleja, se han identificado aproximadamente 500 compuestos, entre los que están cannabinoides, terpenos, flavonoides, alcaloides, estilbenos, amigas fenólicos y lignanamidas, según un artículo publicado por la Revista ciencias farmacéuticas de México (2014).
